Bridging Art and Function

Bridging Art and Function by transforming the identity of an object beyond its function.

"“She is like a trap set by nature, a sweet perfumed rose in whose petals cupid lurks in ambush” - Edmond Rostand’s Cyrano de Bergerac. Now at Forre Fine Art in Aspen, CO. 48” x 10” x 17” hand-illustrated steel with a brushed acrylic cradle.

Furniture as art, It’s another way to express our identity through our design and consumer choices.
Those special and unique choices enhance our surroundings and bring the most joy,
especially these days where we spend WAY more time at home.

Combining a concept with a design that must be beautiful and functional
is where my passions become energized.
As a furniture designer I get to play in my imagination,
as a sculptor the form needs to be hands on
and…..
as a hands on maker I figure out the logistics and engineering.

The value of pieces created by hands is tenfold;
there is a connection between the maker and user,
there is a story and a soul immersed within the object and, an emotional connection.
In custom work, that is site specific and individualized,
there is a collaborative connection that fulfills a desire and in the end….
pride and joy.

til next time,
xx
