This series of work took place from 2000-2003. The "Crown Series" was inspired by indigenous cultures, their ceremonies and adornments. Each woman tells her story in her crown. Carved by hand, burned then layers of tones were applied for depth and and control.

The large-scaled totemic sculptures are carved from fallen dead aspen trees inlaid with metal, playing with texture and form.

This was the beginning of my passion for juxtaposing textures and materials.
